A 2023 Grant for Diversified Minds

This grant will be used to give students hands-on experiences with theories of science that will help them understand the theories clearly and increase SOL scores. Currently, the few supplies they have to conduct experiments are out of date, mostly old beakers and plastic jugs leftover from the Art Department. Grant funds will be used to purchase lab equipment, utilize the greenhouse, and buy items that are needed to grow knowledge by hands-on approach versus just verbal. Lab equipment to be purchased includes, but is not limited to: new stands, beakers, and test tubes; DNA kits; weather station; parts of the body models; rocks; supplies for the greenhouse and garden area; microscope items such as pre-made and self-made slides; molecular models; new slide scales; and a weight set.
